12 the first sin

Father there is so much for us to see in that original sin that matches up with our lives right now. Satan is deliberate in his deception of Eve, and of us. He starts by saying something ridiculous that is clearly not true, asking if every tree in the garden is off limits. At this first point he doesn't really have a foothold yet. But then she replies. She says that if they eat, or touch the fruit from the tree in the middle they will surely die. But You never said or touch. By adding to Your command Eve gave the devil something to attack. Adding our own thoughts challenges the sufficiency of Your word. It made it that much easier for the serpent to poke holes in her story. Father guide my heart to rely on the truth that You have so generously given us. And help me to always focus on the freedom that You have given me to pursue a life dedicated to the growth of Your kingdom. Satan's triumph over Eve is his ability to get her focused on the one thing she shouldn't do rather than the multitude of great things she could do. Help me see life as a chain of opportunities to do great things for the glory and praise of Christ, rather than a list of things to avoid. Help me Father, to see the subtle beginnings of the devil's trickery and to be so far removed from his world that my eyes remain fixed on Yours.

for Your heel crush his head
